The Rollers have claimed Gold in Beijing with an emphatic win over defending Paralympic Champions Canada 72-60 on Tuesday night in the men’s wheelchair basketball.

The last time Australia won the Paralympic title was in Atlanta in 1996 when the team, captained by Sandy Blythe, defeated the U.S in the semi-final before beating Great Britain 78-63 to seal the gold medal.

This time the men’s team was up against the Canadians, after beating the British in the semi-finals.

Canada and Australia will go for gold in the men’s wheelchair basketball event at the Paralympics after each won semi-finals on Sunday.

The Canadians needed double overtime but finally overcame the United States while Australia hammered Great Britain to reach the title game.

The USA and Britain will battle for bronze.
