Andrew Bogut and Nathan Jawai are both likely to miss the start of the new NBA season next week.

Bogut twisted an ankle in his Milwaukee Bucks preseason game in China last week and aggravated it at training back in the United States.

He was unable to travel with the team for their final two warm-up matches.

Jawai, meanwhile, remains on the sidelines with an undefined cardiac problem that could keep him out of the Toronto Raptors line-up for another three weeks.

The South Dragons have announced themselves as a genuine contender for this season’s NBL title as they clinically disposed of championship favourite and cross-town rival Melbourne 108-80 in front of a packed house at Hisense Arena on Saturday night.

The victory was South’s biggest in its short history and it took place in front of the biggest NBL crowd (9308) in Victoria in seven years.

Joe Ingles proved to be the difference as he set the place alight with a dominant individual performance (26 points and nine rebounds) and catapulted his team to second on the NBL ladder in the process.

Ingles also enjoyed valuable support from Tremmell Darden (18, eight) and Nick Horvath (17).

For Melbourne, Chris Anstey played a lone hand scoring 27 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
