Basketball Australia Council and the National Basketball League each opted to merge and accept the recommendations of an independent review in Basketball in Australia. Which will see the two bodies become one.

The agreement is expected to ensure the $35 Million payday from Fox Sports and ensure that more coverage is given to the new league to start in 09.  But the big question mark is whats next? Especially how many teams will be left standing after the revamp.

“There has been a number of eight bandied about, that’s a possibility, what’s most important is strong financial backing of each club,” he said.

“If it had to go down to six, we can go there.” Mr Thodey said.
