Agent: Yes Ballinger is now an Aussie was naturalised 3 months ago
CJ and Anstey i believe retired from international competition.
In international competition the 3 ball is very important. If you move the ball properly and play inside out (which we can do with Jawai!) but Australia NEVER does this. Not when we had Longley, not with Bradtke, now not with Bogut and Jawai. Sure when you had Gaze runnign everything from the perimeter was fine, but we don;t have him anymore!
Boomers' lineup:
Bogut
Jawai
Worthington
Newley
Mills
Schenscher
Anderson
Ballinger
Ingles
Dellavedova
This lineup would at least rebound and Ballinger gives you as much if not more than BArlow in every other area of the game. And how can none of you put Schenscher in your lineup???

Schenscher simply isn't ahead of any of the following:
Bogut, Jawai, Ogilvy, Baynes, Maric, Nevill
You have to remeber, Schenscher was a part time college basketball player who to his credit has worked his ass off to become a good NBL level player (and even got the opportunity to play a few NBA minutes).
The 6 guys above are either NBA players, potential NBA players or were starting college stars. Schenscher is going to be an occasional Boomer squad player when some of the other players we have available are not available. He has the misfortune to be playing when Australia has a depth of big, post players available.
We really only need 2 pure post players and a couple of players who can be used in the post if the others are in foul trouble/having a bad game/etc.... Bogut and Jawai are automatic picks, Ogilvy and Baynes are both versatile so fit that part time post player mold and Maric and Nevill are younger and probably a little better positioned for the team than Schenscher is. If Luke Nevill could ever develop a drop step move he'd be twice the player he is right now.
And I missed a couple of other players who could easily make this list as well that are in the running as well.

wonder why australia hasn't used ballinger or even redhage. both those players would b good (although redhage wasn't that good at beijing, although he got little court time)
Well Redhage is off making some cash in South America I believe so wasn't available. Don't know about Ballinger.
I am not convinced on Gibson. Delladova really looks like he has a chance to be there with Mills - really looking forward to seeing him at St Mary's along with Jordan Page. This is very good news since there was a lot of concern on how the PG spot was going to work out as CJ wound his international career down. Mills, Delladova and Gibson are all very different players which is fantastic.
I'd still love to see some more pure shooters and a couple of really, really athletic wing players in the mix for the Boomers, but otherwise we are looking real good for around the Olympics.

Majok 6 points but still finding his feet in that game.
Liam Rush is a boost to the squad and got 12 points,we are starting to get something going with the young squad.

Where is Delladova playing in off season?

BTW, any player who takes a NBL Development Spot over a USA college scholarship is an idiot unless they have a personal issue that would stop them coming over.
In the good side of news, as I hoped we are getting to the point where the majority of the first choice Australian Boomers squad are going to be overseas based in major basketball leagues. Fir the first time in forever we are going to have several Australians in the NBA and several players who possibly could have made a roster if they didn't take EuroLeague contracts or had been willing to hang around and play some NBDL.
Bogut and Andersen and both going to get serious time on court. First NBA season where more than 1 Aussie will be getting significant court time.
Patrick Mills now he has a contract, so he is going to end up either traded to a team that needs him or will play some NBDL this year. Huge relief to see him get a contract and a roster spot. Sooner he gets healthy, the better.
Jawai is at a crossroads. He is guaranteed $700k this year even if cut, which may save his roster spot on the Mavs. If he does end up getting cut there is at least 3 teams waiting for to look at 'bigs' who get cut to fill out their rosters - Houston, Nets and Golden State for a start are very, very short on size.
Nevill looks in great shape and though he may not end up making the roster w/ the Cavs (it may depend on whether Shaq is going to play back-to-backs and how healthy big Z is) the same teams that will look at Jawai will be very interested in Nevill.
Baynes and Maric both played well in camps/summer league, etc and if they go over and play some great Euro league for a year or two, or a nice World's, I believe the option to come to the NBA will be there for them. Baynes is shape plus some more skill development can be a big time player ir Europe. Maric just eats rebounds and plays tough - some skills that translate to any basketball league.
Newley is a much improved player - but the Rockets own his rights so he will need to be released/moved before he comes to the NBA since the Rockets are very happy with their SG/SF players.
Ingles did MUCH better than I thought. Same boat as Newley - continue to improve in Europe and there is a chance after Worlds to have a shot.
It may never happen, but Matty Neilsen is a NBA-level player. One of those bulldog, annoying, wont back down trench guys, but none the less a NBA player.
Of Ogilvy has an improved season - which if he is healthy he will - he will likley be drafted and in the NBA.
So if you look at the above that is 11 players who are already NBA or borderline NBA players. It is starting to get crowded in terms of spots for the Worlds. Delladova/Gibson have a run at backing up Mills. Worthington is an option we likley need at SF. Harvey has performed every time he is given an opportunity.
And we aren't even mentioning players like Rush, Kazzouh, Kickert, Senscher, Brock Motum, Cody Ellis, Weigh, Forman and several others.
Full squad and the Boomers have to go into Worlds expecting to be in the medal round.

Awesome to see so many guys doing well overseas, boomers should be stacked. I hope all are healthy, espically Mills. You have to worry that an foot/ankle injury might effect his speed and game. I think Barlow would also have to be one considered, probably not an nba guy, but big and long at the three spot, strong on D. All this talent on board, I think we might even beat New Zealand!?!?!? I still can't believe we lost to those guys, even with a young mix match team. Would love to see all our players on board and see us destroy NZ in a pre-worlds warm up match.
