he is on the roster and should get some time off the bench regardless.

Once he has his body back up to competitive action in the NBDL and is actually posting decent stats and playing well (which may take time) he might then be put back on the roster and get limited minutes.
Mills then plays the horrible "hope someone gets injured" waiting game, so he can get a real chance to shine.

Mills has a broken toe. He will be out at least until the end of November.
Portland are really looking for a trade right now. Bayless has had 2 DNP-Coaches Decisions to start the season and he is going to really start making some very unhappy sounds pretty soon. Webster looks to be back from his injury last year so either Outlaw or him need to be traded. These are good assets which Portland would really like to turn into future draft picks. They would not mind taking on a bad contract to make it work either since the incoming player would probably not make the playing rotation anyway. I am hearing they would be willing to trade Bayless/Outlaw or Webster/Blake for a bad contract + at least a 1st round pick in 2011 and a second round pick in 2012 or similar.
Their other option is to trade 3 or 4 of these players for an all star type player which could happen closer to the trade deadline when there will be at least 4-5 teams who realize that this year isn't their year and that they can move their best player for 3-4 very good players and it wont matter all that much. Something like everyone for T-Mac + a 2nd rounder or 3 players for David Lee... Something along those lines anyway.
Portland have to do something soon because they have a deep roster of players who all are good enough to play. They need to convert some of these assets into a superstar or future draft picks before it starts to effect the locker room.
This all helps Mills chances of playing btw - either the guard rotation will shorten and there is some opportunity or he gets traded to a team as a throw in to a deal which again could have playing time for him.

Mills need to get healthy REAL soon. With Greg Oden now out for the year and various other players injured, Portland could well want to make a roster change and he has the only non-guaranteed contract on the roster. That would mean that if they couldn't make a trade, he'd be the player they would end up waive.
Rumours are they would like to move Bayless for draft picks but there have been no takers yet.

Yeah and the Blazers spokesman barked out today. "Bayless has never asked to be traded" so it would be the clubs doing as he doesn't want to go anywhere..
Hope he does get traded so Patty gets a chance.

Yeah, I love a good spokesman.
Bayless has been saying 'I want to play a lot more' publicly which is athlete speak for 'play me or trade me or I am going to become an issue'. As a permanent part of the rotation, that isn't going to be happening since he isn't as good a PG as Miller or Blake and he isn't as good a SG as Brandon Roy or Rudy Fernandez. He is actually getting court time right now because Fernandez is going to be out 6 weeks.

Bayless Wants Portland To Deal Him
Dec 08, 2009 2:06 PM EST
Multiple sources told Dwight Jaynes over the weekend that Trail Blazers guard Jerryd Bayless has asked the team to trade him.
Portland might need another big man following Greg Oden's season-ending knee injury and Bayless might be the type of player that can get them one.
However, Jaynes points out that Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard is usually averse to in-season trades.
