Junior guard/forward Anatoly Bose was named first team All-Southland and sophomore guard/forward Fred Hunter picked up honorable mention honors as the Southland Conference named its 2010 All-Southland Men's Basketball Teams on Tuesday.

Bose earned first team accolades after averaging 20.4 points/game during the regular season. The Sydney, Australia native's point/game average ranks him 23rd in the nation heading into Wednesday night's tipoff against Sam Houston State. League-wide, Bose's nightly point production ranks behind only Texas-Arlington's Marquez Haynes, whose 22.8 point/game average leads the league and ranks fourth in the nation.

Hunter, the 2008-09 Southland Freshman of the Year winner, followed an impressive debut freshman season with a solid 2009-10. After averaging 10.6 points/game as a freshman, the Denton, Texas native led the Colonels with a .486 field goal percentage and ranked ninth in the conference with a 14.1 point/game average.

Bose, Hunter and the rest of the Colonels will return to action when they open Southland Conference Tournament play on Wednesday night. The eighth-seeded Colonels will take on No. 1 seed and regular season champion Sam Houston State at 6:00 p.m. at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in the Houston suburb of Katy, Texas.

Nicholls State University junior guard/forward Anatoly Bose continued to collect postseason accolades as the Colonel swingman was named to the National Basketball Coaches Association's District 23 First Team, the organization announced from their Kansas City headquarters this week.

The award comes on the heels of Bose being named to the 2010 Southland Conference All-Tournament team where he led the eighth-seeded Colonels to a near upset of No. 1 seed and regular season and eventual tournament champion Sam Houston State. Bose posted 40 points in the opening round loss to the Bearkats. The Sydney native's point total was the highest of any player in the tournament and was just seven points short of the single-game Southland Conference Tournament record. Bose finished six points shy of his career high of 46 (set in a double overtime game at Northwestern State in January) but set a career single-game best for a non-overtime contest.

Bose turned in a streak of seven consecutive 20-point games from Dec. 3 through Jan. 13 en route to recording 20 points or more in 20 of the Colonel's 30 games and establish his status as one of the most consistent scoring threats in the nation this season.

Bose finished the season with a 21.1 point/game average, the 16th best average in the nation, and second only to Texas-Arlington's Marquez Haynes (22.6 points/game, fifth nationally) in the Southland Conference to earn Southland Conference First Team honors.

Bose is now eligible for consideration for the 2010 State Farm All-America Teams, which will be announced on April 3 in Indianapolis, Ind., site of the 2010 NCAA Division I Final Four.
