Top 4 teams make it in, I think this is the right way to go... If we can ever make it back to 12 teams in the competition only then should we make it top 6.
Best of 3 for the semi's and best of 3 for the grand final series is good too.
Your thoughts people?

i dont understand just because the comp lost a few teams the Finals series droped to 3 games.. 5 was brilliant.. with a 3 game series imagine if Gong had of not missed in game 1 then won game 2 you would be ropeable saying and correctly so they got lucky in 1 game... over 5 you just have to be gruiling like Dragons last year and Tigers year before both were expected to win the series in game 4 but droped them only to bounce back for MASSIVE game 5's

Well, I don't think the semi's should should extended to 5, there might be argument to make the grand final a best of 5 series. I think scheduling is the most important thing. Ensuring that it does not clash with the start of the AFL season.
I think it worked quite well this year, the hype around the series seamed good. Extending it might dilute it.
Other changes
I think I'd still prefer 12 minute quarters
Need to promote more dunking and less 3 point shooting(e.g. defensive 3 second rule, move out the 3 point arc size, add a step to travelling).
Video footage, refs should be able to refer to video footage to make big decisions
Good things
I was realy happy with the stricter refereeing this season, especially on hand checking, travelling, double dribble.
Rules are rules and they should be enforced.
Was good to see some new players and not such a big emphasis on imports
Good coverage, both on fox and the internet. Would be good to have a basketball variety show once a week that covers NBL, Aussie abroad etc.

I agree on 12 minutes, I dont want an extra step added for travelling... I want the dunk arc under the basket I think that will be good. I dont care much for more dunks though, just more shots being taken inside the 3 point line so its not a shooting contest from behind the arc.

good comments. i think the semis should remain 3 games and the grand final b 5 as long as it doesn't clash wif the afl or nrl comp start. otherwise some ppl may lose interest. i like the idea of the dunking cos that does make the game more interesting i do think in the nbl they settle for the 3 to much. would like them to introduce the 3 second in the key on d rule and widen the 3 point as that opens up the lanes alot more. and i def think the quarters need to go back 2 12 min. but i think we should stick wif the same rules for the travel. taipans still in the comp woot woot! and boody retired! hahaha so no more shit boody in the team. just need to sack dwayne vale and i'll be stoked lol.

wat r u talking bout southy! afl has 16 teams and 8 make the finals and nrl has 16 teams wif 8 in the finals thats 50% so i agree with agent that if we eva get back 2 12 teams then there should b 6 in the finals.
i don't think they will need to have bye's as most teams play 2 games in a week so they could just continue that with some teams having 1 game and some having 2 and just rotate it...

12 teams, 6 make playoffs is fair enough,id rather 5 and winner of top spot gets a second chance or is straight into GF.
5 game format for G.F is better.

I agree that the stricter enforcing of rules was good to see this season but i would personally prefer to see a greater consistency (read: competency) from the referees as a whole. Maybe it's time for some new blood? I have no problem watching younger less experienced ref's make mistakes they will learn from but i am sick of seeing the same bozo's running around fucking up the games the same way they have been doing for a decade or more and seeing no repercussion for their incompetence.
That would show me the league has truly begun to evolve.
Also extending the 3pt line might not be such a bad idea. Maybe then every player in the league won't think he's a 3 pt gunner and you'll see more basketball and less 3pt shootouts.
