Well it has become that time again, it has been over a year since there were any major changes at Aussiebball and I have had some feedback on elements of the website/forum that need a refresh. The thing is, if you are going to make changes you might as well do everything you can.

So, if you have any ideas, any issues with the website currently, or any other general feedback please have your say. So far the following items are on the short-list:

Website Design

• Frontage will become auto generated from users new topics rather than manually updated
  
• Emphasis on making the forums more simple and more condensed. Many of the links, buttons and features are never realy used and just makes the forums look to busy
  
• Very open to ideas when it come to other website that have done well in regard to over graphical and web page design
  
• Move away from having player featured in the websites header, maybe come up with slogan
  
• login and register to become much clearer to access across the website
  
• Website to have a simple mobile friendly interface e.g. Iphone, Nokia, Android
  
• Website have both fixed width and 100% width options (website does not look great on large screens e.g over 20inch)
  
• Frontpage to feature both new topics and hot topics (no manually created news), may have the title then the first 30 words of the topic?

New Features

• NBL Tipping system to be ready in time for start off 2010/11 season
  
• NBL and NBA score tracker (links to box scores and official info from NBL/NBA)
  
• New player and team profiles section, will have a simple facility for people to submit player profiles, system then automatically pulls forums relevant to that player
  
• Forum and Blogs to be accessed via the same user profile and become integrated e.g. if you submit a new topic in the forum that is also posted to your personal blog.
  
• System to automatically create tags from forum topics and posts and hence tagging based pages e.g. aussiebball/tag/redhage will display a page with all topics that have been tagged "redhage"
  
• News posts from places such as NBA.com, foxpsorts etc to be separated from the forums, when accessing the NBL forum there will be a little block that displays relevant news and links from other key content providers e.g. NBL.com.au, Foxsports etc
  
• New email subscription feature to automatically subscribe users to their own created topics, user will of course be able to disable this. There will be option to be notified instantly or in a weekly digest.
  
• Automatic weekly digest of new and hot topics to be sent to all registered members every week or month, users will of course be able to disable this.

i use the "View new content" feature all the time... almost exclusively. Probably should be more prominent.

I enjoy most of the site but cringe at the bad spelling. For this reason I won't link it to my facebook page. Apart from that, great job.

where is the NBA/NBL Score feature?

ALso i think forums are best left as simple as possible, as in dont have a thread for every team, its way confusing and people dont post, have one thread for all off season etc.

Yeah given the small amount of people who post on here I think its good keeping it the way it in for the NBL section... basically unless South or myself are posting shit on a daily basis the forum looks very quiet... i think breaking it up would only make it look even quieter.

On a serious note, please report any issues/problems/feedback you have on the new design.

Will be looking to send a newsletter to all members about the FIBA World champs and the new site soon so want to ensure everything is working :-)

Kudos to Pickles for putting the new theme together.
