Perhaps mention what NBL and NBA teams you follow? Who are your favourite players? What players do you dislike? Do you play basketball? Whats your basketball pet hates? and Is Brian Goorijian a good Boomers coach? etc. I think you get the jist.

Recently joined. Was a big Kings fan but with Goorj, Wortho and a few other ex-Kings now with Dragons reluctantly swapping allegiance to Sths. Feel the NBL has a lot to answer for - not just the Kings but Bullets and now appears Slingers are going under. Poorly run and marketed. Need impartial, professional administrators not ex-NBL players running the game. Love the local game - NBL, Boomers, Opals etc much more than NBA. Very much looking forward to Olympics. If we (Boomers) play as well as we can we will medal. Problem is their are probably 10 other teams feel the same way. Huge depth in international basketball at the moment. Expectations are high for Boomers but if we finish top 6 we have a team to be very proud of. Felt James Harvey unlucky to miss cut but didnt seem to play his natural game in trials - tentative shooting. Great to see Jawai in NBA - not sure if he would have made the Boomers with our bigs. The Opals are awesome too - huge pressure to take gold. I wont be missing a game of Aust basketball in Beijing.
Fave players? Wortho and Jason Smith (both really decent blokes too). NBA - been supporting Lakers since early 70's and been fortunate to see them play many times.
Thats about it for now - Go Boomers and Opals.

I am a huge fan of BBall and with the impending season and my new love of the internet I though i would follow along this year on this forum. I'm in Sydney and used to be a kings fan. Now looking for another club as I never quite liked the razorbacks (especially if their changing there name to Spirit lol!). I have had a soft spot for the Tigers (I know, a Sydney man going for a Melbourne team is highly unusual) for a while so it may be them if they can some me something special this year.
Anyway hope to enjoy a great 08/09 season here with you guys. Looking forward to it.

I am really hoping the Boomers can pull of something magical and get a medal however I am not completely happy with how the rotations have been going in the lead up to the Olympic Games.
In the NBL I dislike Mark Worthington, Shane Heal & Chris Anstey. Poor attitudes and big ego's is something I frown upon in the NBL and feel it belongs elsewhere like the NBA. When a player puts on a Boomers jersey however I am behind them 100% and hope they represent my country with everything they have. I feel although Mark Worthington is a great player in Australia, I dont think he is ready to take on the amount of minutes we have been seeing him play thus far on the international level. And as for Glen Saville I think his time is up and Brian Goorjian needs to share the love with some of the other players in the squad. I really hope Worthington & Saville can put together some great games given the fact they are getting decent minutes to do so however if they cant I am praying that Redhage can see some more minutes to prove he can play the international game and get the time he deserves.
I play basketball myself and have done so since I was 7 yrs old. I still play domestic basketball however my love for watching the game is higher than playing it myself. I also play indoor volleyball and have so for a couple of years now.
I like to travel and would have to say my fav destination is Phuket, no better place to go away to and just relax.
I have a girlfriend who hates sport, ive been with her for 3 years now and have just this year managed to make her get a Wildcats membership which I think is a huge step to converting her to being a Cats and Basketball fan. Her favourate Wildcat is Wilbur the team mascot.
I work for a company called Steelforce and am a Sales Representitve and I really enjoy working there.
I enjoy gaming and own a Xbox 360. I have Xbox live and my gamertag is 'Derty Hairy'.
Its my birthday on the 22nd of August so you guys better wish me happy birthday when that day comes.
My pick for MVP this coming season is either Crosswell or Redhage.
My fav person to talk to on this forum is Tommy.
That is all.

Favourtie team was Sydney Kings but htey are gone... So now i gotta say the Spirit as most of the boys ive played against or i know quite well.
Favourite NBA team is really following Ray Allen. So it was Milwaulkee, then Seattle now Boston. But im starting to follow Dwight and CP3 now. They are just to good to ignore!

my name is lynton and i also love bball! i started playin when i was 11 and am now 21, although i don't play rep basketball and all that n e more as i don't have any time to train wif work and uni. i just play social games once a week and this season our team is undefeated wif about 6 games left in the season!!!! i live in cairns so i support the taipans but before they were around i was a south east melbourne magic fan, simply cos i was young and their team was called magic lol! ( as i went for the magic in the nba cos i reckon penny hardaway kicked ass. then mcgrady came along but as he left to rockets i now go for both the rockets and magic) my fav players r martin cattalini and darnell mee as they were the main reason behind the taipans becoming one of the better teams in the nbl. my fav player in the nba is t-mac.

I'm Ivan, I was HEAVILY into basketball in my high-school years. However after school finished (2001), everyone's got their own different things to do... which made us hard to get together & play bball. Ever since then I was on and off when it comes to playing basketball.
After watching the Beijing 2008 games, I really wanna play again... Searched for some kind of Basketball forum in Australia and here I am!

Welcome, I think many people have the same thoughts as you.
We all remember the hay days of basketball e.g. the jordan/Longley/NBA Action on TV saturday mornings era.
I found starting a social basketball team has got me back into it.

Channel Ten used to air NBA games (full games) & NBA action late at night... and then it got cut down to NBA game highlights and then it got cut down to nothing.
